Circuit Mania Lighthouse Instructions

What you will need:

  • Scissors
  • Thumbtack or Pin

In the Box

  • (2) Sheets of paper with object outlines
  • (1) LED Light
  • (3) Conductive Tape Strips
  • (1) Paper Clip
  • (1) Button Battery
  • Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow the instructions step-by-step, carefully reading each line before moving onto the next step.

Step 1 – Cut out paper Lighthouse templates

- Follow the outer lines on both Lighthouse templates. You will have two similar shaped paper cutouts, one larger than the other.
-Place the smaller cutout on top of the larger cutout, making sure the dotted circles on both cutouts are aligned.

Step 2 – Poke a small hole through both cutouts

- With both Lighthouse cutouts stacked on top of each other and dotted circles aligned, use a thumbtack or pin to poke a small hole through the middle area of the dotted circles.

Step 3 – Insert LED prongs through the small cutout

-Take the small cutout and insert both LED prongs through the pin hole in the center of the dotted circle.
-Bend the longer positive (+) prong so it lays flat against the small cutout.

Step 4 – Apply conductive tape to small cutout

-Peel the white strip off the back of the conductive tape
-Apply the conductive tape to the longer (+) LED prong vertically and secure the prong to the smaller paper cutout. Continue placing the tape down along the length of the Lighthouse cutout.
-Cut off excess conductive tape.

Step 5 – Insert negative (-) prong through the larger cutout

-Take the larger Lighthouse cutout and insert the shorter negative (-) LED prong through the pin hole in the center of the dotted circle.
-Bend the negative LED Prong so it lays flat against the back of the larger cutout.

Step 6 – Apply conductive tape to larger cutout

-Peel the white strip off the back of the conductive tape
-Apply the conductive tape to the negative (-) prong vertically and secure the prong to the larger Lighthouse cutout but before reaching the bottom, make a right turn so the conductive tape makes an L shape and wrap it around to the front of the larger cutout.
-Make sure both conductive strips are touching.
-Cut off any excess conductive tape

Step 7 – Add paper clip and secure the battery

-Place the battery between the cutouts at the intersection of the tapes. Make sure the battery is touching both tapes with the side marked “+” touching the tape on the back of the smaller cutout.
-Secure the battery to the paper cutouts, at the intersection of the two tapes, with the included paper clip.

Troubleshooting

-If the LED doesn’t light up, flip the battery and try again.
